John was born in 1922 at 26 Beckingham Road, Radford. Nottingham. He was the oldest boy of five, But unfortunately his Parents died at a very young age of double pneumonia so subsequently they were all split up .John
was taken care of by Aunt Lou.(pictured right). At the age of 14 he started working for Players cigarette manufacturers were he stayed until he volunteered for the RAF.
